Stratolaunch, LLC Sr. Structural Engineer in Mojave, California
Position Summary
Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.
Stratolaunch is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to execute the development of the Roc Carrier Aircraft. This position will focus on both the development new launch pylons & maintenance of legacy Roc Aircraft structure.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute end-to-end structure projects comprising of design, analysis, manufacturing, test, & inspection for modification & development of new pylon designs
Create solutions, test prototypes, liaison modifications, & perform testing
Execute structure analysis, justification, &/or modification of legacy Roc Aircraft structure for envelope expansion or maintainability.
Evaluate requirement needs or problem statements and propose solutions
Evaluate both technical and programmatic risk for potential solutions
Perform detail design, procure parts, advocate design through review process, document design
Execute project ranging from procurement, detail technician direction, aircraft configuration control
Test project as required, lead testing, evaluate data and hold closeout reviews
Prepare project for flight and brief status at Flight Readiness Reviews and other similar events
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in aircraft Structural Design
Experience in aircraft Structural Analysis
Experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Experience with CAD design (Catia V5), MS Office
CAD Design
Experience developing & negotiating requirements
Familiarity with configuration management systems such as JIRA
Excellent written & verbal communication
S. Person Status
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in Loads Development
Experience in Durability & Damage Tolerance Analysis
Experience developing new Aircraft from ground up
Experience with large transport aircraft
Experience using FEMAP/Nastran
Hands-on aircraft build, piloting, and flight test experience
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution and 5-plus years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

$120,000-$155,000
Relocation eligible to local area – Mojave, CA
9/80 schedule

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
