Stratolaunch, LLC Sr. CAD/PDM Administrator in Mojave, California
Stratolaunch is developing air-launch platforms to contribute to high-speed research and development. The goal of Stratolaunch is to use the air-launch platform for enabling technologies that may not otherwise exist. Stratolaunch has the potential for creating technology development opportunities for commercial, philanthropic, and governmental organizations to collect rich and actionable data and drive advancements in science, research, and technology.
To achieve these great efforts, Stratolaunch needs a Senior CAD-PDM Administrator to manage 3D CAD PDM systems for high-speed vehicles. This position is responsible for maintaining configuration control through CAD of various vehicles and iterations of those vehicles. A successful candidate will be highly organized and be able to communicate across multiple groups to maintain a vehicle’s configuration, including contributing to mass properties estimation. Candidates must have experience in prototype aircraft development, and relevant experience in aircraft systems integration and test.
Create, organize, and manage 3D CAD master models for high-speed vehicles and variants
Work across many teams and subsystems to control and maintain vehicle configurations through 3D CAD
Deconflict hardware interface issues between teams by raising and helping correct issues quickly
Optimize the organization of vehicle master models so that engineers are working as efficiently as possible
Model various subsystems, as required, to help teams communicate through 3D CAD
Contribute to mass properties analysis and estimation through CAD to support systems engineering efforts
Create models, as required, to support various analyses by other groups (CFD, structural modeling, etc)
Create and maintain standard CAD templates for all engineers to use
Support requirements verification activities that rely on CAD as a reference, such as comparing as-built geometry to released geometry
Help resolve technical challenges, as required
Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems
Travel, as needed, to support the company
Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and fulfillment of commitments
Proficient with 3D CAD modeling and assembly management (Siemens NX preferred, or Solidworks)
Extensive experience with drafting and GD&T
Ability to communicate technical challenges and guidance to varied audiences to gain support or resolve concerns
Ability to work on their own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals
Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
Experience with surface lofting is preferred
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-plus years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
