Stratolaunch, LLC Production Manager in Mojave, California

Stratolaunch is developing an air-launch platform to contribute to high-speed research and development. The goal of Stratolaunch is to use the air-launch platform for enabling technologies that may not otherwise exist. Stratolaunch has the potential for creating technology development opportunities for commercial, philanthropic, and governmental organizations to collect rich and actionable data and drive advancements in science, research, and technology.

Stratolaunch is seeking a Production Manager to be responsible for ensuring the manufacturing team is working in an efficient and effective manner. The Production Manager will work closely with the Manufacturing Manager for the overall manufacturing operations at the Mojave facility. This position will work closely with Engineering on application of best techniques and practices to ensure part builds and assembly of vehicles is done as efficiently as possible. This position will work with the Manufacturing Manager and Director to gather data for dashboard development for monitoring on-going production processes, to document unexpected slowdowns, and proactively identify new bottlenecks. The Production Manager will track NCR’s and work with shop personnel, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and the Manufacturing Manger to identify root cause of discrepancies and best practices or training requirements to reduce future occurrences.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Manufacturing Operations – Oversees management of all areas of manufacturing to produce products and direct activities and ensure that schedules are met while staying within quality standards and cost objectives

  • Works closely with shop and engineering personnel to apply best techniques and practices to manufacture parts and assemble vehicles in an efficient manner.

  • Works with Manufacturing Manger to develop procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.

  • Works with shop personnel and engineering to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.

  • Using data identifies methods and procedures to improve productivity, quality, and reduce scrapping of materials and parts.

  • Work closely with engineering to ensure proper configuration of a fabricated end item.

  • Manage parts & tool inventory to ensure staff has the necessary resources to avoid operational down-time.

  • Works with Manufacturing Manager, shop leads, QA, and training department to identify needed training.

  • Assist in maintaining FOD Control and Tool Control in the shop and on/around vehicles.

  • Ensures OSHA and EHS Compliance and establishes a culture of safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations

  • A strong understanding of part fabrication and assembly

  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; this can be offset by a combination of education and experience

  • 7+ Years leading Manufacturing Operations

  • Previous Management Experience preferred

  • May require travel in the Southern California region or to vendors, conferences, or off site meetings as required.
